auld lang syne

It's the final countdown! Facebook and Instagram attempt their own versions at imposing sentimentality through providing you with a year in review of all of your pics and "biggest moments." I appreciate the effort, however, they don't do it for me like the song "Auld Lang Syne," which evokes such immobilizing nostalgia and brings forth that undeniable sorrow that is heartbreak and final farewells. Masochistically, I love this song. This NYE, I will be missing my friends with whom I have shared so many wonderful countdowns. To damper this wistful melancholy, I'll toss some SATC into the mix. I love this New Year's Eve scene from the movie (set to, of course, "Auld Lang Syne," by Mairi Campbell).

I am privileged to have friends as great as these. I love and miss you all!

z-bo

Meet Z-Bo, reverently named after Memphis Grizzlies icon, Zach Randolph. He is our one-and-a-half year old German Shepherd who came to us (for the low, low price of free) after he got thrown out of a car in a grocery store parking lot. :( In true form regarding anything furry, I scooped him up and called my then-boyfriend, now-husband, Neely, with those words every boyfriend wants to hear..."I found a puppy!" It took all of a few hours for Z-Bo to secure his place in our lives. Now, I don't know what we would do without him!

I would love to begin every morning with a walk around our neighborhood with Z-Bo. Unfortunately, the real world gets in the way. The best days are, like today, when we are both off of work and can walk him together.
BONUS: He/we love his new leash from Up Country! Merry Christmas, Zeebs! Check them out here...so canine chic...

no one asked

No one asked me to start a blog, but I'm doing it anyway! What is the point of a blog? To share ideas? To update friends? To show off accomplishments? What if no one reads it? If that is the case, it's a place for me to keep a journal of sorts. As a teacher on Christmas break, I figure this is the perfect time to wet my feet in the blogosphere. I welcome any and all blogging tips from experts and novices alike! Stay tuned for updates about...I'm not sure yet...
